What it asked of the envelope.
Large glazed openings establish uninterrupted views across the landscape. The objective was not simply to install larger glass, but to answer the architect’s intention for an unrestricted panoramic view.
How it was resolved.
Sliding panels measure up to 2.5 × 3.5 m and weigh approximately 400 kg each. Their perimeter profiles are embedded into the architectural construction to minimise visible framing.
Glass weight, structural support, hardware, drainage and installation access were resolved behind the finished surfaces. The envelope was drawn, fabricated and fitted by EFS so the technical effort would not become the visual subject of the residence.
