Amchit Bay is a development of six villas and twenty-three chalets above the sea at Amchit, developed by FFA Real Estate. The original design is by Michel Abboud of SOMA Architects, with design development and completion by Alphonse Kai. EFS supplied and installed the envelope across the whole development.
The volumes step down the slope so that every unit reaches the sea over the roof of the one below. The openings had to be wide enough that the frame did not divide that horizon.
EFS developed one standardised facade configuration for six villas and twenty-three chalets, adapting it to the scale of each opening while holding the same minimal expression across the development.
A Ponzio WS50 curtain wall carries the glazed elevations, with SL1300 and SL600 sliding openings and WS75 AS profiles. Entrances are P100 doors. Terraces are closed with frameless balustrades, so nothing stands between a seated person and the water.
The principal configuration combines embedded sliding openings with jumbo fixed glazing. A 30 mm mullion connects the moving and fixed elements. The largest fixed units reach five by three metres and weigh more than 1.1 tonnes, so glass, aluminium framing, handling and installation sequence were developed as one operation.
